NKOTB News for December 27

The guys were a little quiet this year for the holidays... In my last post I didn't have anything about Jonathan, but it seems there were more Jonathan sightings than any of the other guys thanks to his friends and family who posted over the weekend. And there's even a couple Jordan sightings!

Dave Knight shared on his social media that the Knight family went ice skating in Gloucester, MA yesterday! He shared this group shot of the family and even some of Jonathan's Farmhouse Fixer family were there!

This is Dave's photo of him and Jonathan with their sisters Allison and Sharon:

Harley shared this clip:

Kristina Crestin shared this photo:

Dave also shared a couple photos of the family together on Christmas Day at Jon and Harley's house:

Harley shared a photo of their Christmas tree:

Victoria Levy shared a photo of her with Jon and Harley in front of that tree!

Donnie shared this on an Instagram story:

Then on Sunday night, he posted this on Twitter

Dearest Blockhead Family,
Hope your holidays are filled with all the love and joy!

Formless Beauty shared a photo of the winner of the Christmas Day Facetime with Donnie and Jenny:

If you were wondering about the names of Donnie and Jenny's dogs, Jenny posted their Christmas Card and introduced all their pups!

Happy Puppy Holiday from myself, Mr Wahlberg and our fur baby family — from left to right — Gucci, Lady (the matriarch), Louis, Bruno and Duke (the patriarch, in Donnie’s arms). Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! πŸ“Έ: @lynettemcphoto #HappyHolidays #2023 #Christmas #puppies #family #shitzu

NKOTB News for December 24

We have another Jordan sighting! Jordan was at the Boston Bruins game on Thursday night with his brother, Dave and other members of the extended Knight family. Dave Knight shared these on his Instagram:

It seems that Danny sightings are becoming almost as rare as Jordan sightings, but did you see he updated his Instagram profile photo? I know it's tiny, but it saved small because it was a profile photo.

Donnie shared a better quality version of his and Jenny's Christmas card photo!

#HappyHolidays! From The Wahlbergs - and our furry little family! Have a most awesome #ChristmasEve day - and the greatest holiday season of your lives! Be safe! Be kind! Spread Love! #HappyHolidays πŸ€–❤️♾πŸ’«✨πŸŽ„πŸŽπŸŽ‰ #spreadloveandlovewillspread
πŸ“·: @lynettemcphoto

Donnie shared some words of encouragement in some of his recent Instagram story posts:

He also shared his tribute to Thom Bell, who passed away on Thursday:

The impact that Thom Bell had on me, my @nkotb bandmates and the world, can never be measured. He was, and forever will be, an absolute legend — whose musical genius was truly a gift to us all. The New Kids were so blessed to have recorded a cover version of The Delfonics “Didn’t I Blow Your Mind” (which he co wrote with the late great William Hart), and there are so many other magical songs of his that we spent so many hours and days singing along to and growing up with. May he rest peacefully. #RIPThomBell πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’”πŸ•Š️😒♾πŸ’«✨

I'm not sure if this photo is recent, but Wahlburgers posted this photo of Donnie and Jenny in their Wahlburgers PJs:

Joey shared a video clip of their Christmas tree all decorated and complete with the Elf on the Shelf:

NKOTB News for December 22

Joey did his very intimate show at the Bourbon Room last night! Check out cheeena72rafeef.samo and My So-Called Whatever on Instagram for some video clips!

Here's a video of him on his Instagram stories a couple days ago talking about adding that show:

Joey was featured in Debbie Gibson's episode of "Soundcheck" on PBS. Joey's part starts about 11 minutes in...

This is also a couple days old, but Joey shared this photo of some of his family celebrating Hanukkah:

There is new Remember Betty merchandise for sale for a limited time! Team Betty Indiana is hosting an online sale here, but only until January 7! Proceeds go to Remember Betty!

I think these are older photos, but here are a couple photos that Kristina Crestin shared of her stories recently...

Normally I wouldn't share a random selfie of one of the guys out and about - but it's Jordan! Photo is from ryedog95 on Instagram.

Jenny shared this video of Donnie at the nail salon!

Donnie Wahlberg on Instagram Live - December 20, 2022

Donnie joined in on an Instagram live last night by hangin.tough and thecarandcharshow!

Donnie hinted that there will be some special guests on their upcoming album. He mentioned the 15th anniversary of "The Block" again, but said they are planning something unrelated to that!  He also said "Bring Back the Time" was part of several songs they recorded around that time and they almost put out an album around that time (didn't say exactly why they didn't though).

They also talk a bit about the Face the Music album, and he remembers something in particular about a photo shoot from that era. They also ask him some "this or that" questions, such as "which show did Donnie like better: Wahlburgers or Donnie Love Jenny?"

Also, Donnie's step-son Evan joined briefly, and they said that Evan did a project with Lars (a producer the New Kids have worked with) and it'll be out in a few weeks.

Jordan Knight's interview with the Boston Globe

Jordan was interviewed by Boston Globe!

NKOTB’s Jordan Knight on his newly reopened Novara restaurant, very manageable backstage food requests, and favorite band

Plus: He’s bad with names. And right now, he’s really into Fleetwood Mac.

By Kara Baskin Globe Correspondent

Novara's Jordan Knight poses with North Pole visitors. COURTESY NOVARA

If you’re a certain age, you definitely remember Milton’s Jordan Knight, 52, as a founding member of New Kids on the Block. These days, he’s also a restaurateur. Knight co-owns Novara, a Northern Italian restaurant in East Milton Square in the old Milton Cinema space. A fire tore through the kitchen in early November — though, happily, nobody was hurt. It reopens this week.

You’re known as a performer — and, I should say, I have some friends who are very envious that I’m talking to you right now. How did you get involved in restaurants?

There’s a restaurant in East Milton Square called Abby Park. My wife and I went there all the time, It had good food, consistent. We got to know the owner [Vance Welch] and stuff like that. He asked me if I wanted to join him in creating this restaurant. He showed me the location, the plans, and stuff like that. I liked the idea because the location is an old movie theater — one of those old movie theaters with one screen. Mostly, I thought it was a good idea just because there wasn’t much around there. There wasn’t any high-scale restaurant like something you’d go to in Boston. It looks like a big loft: high ceilings, exposed brick, huge bar, really good food. I just thought it would be something that Milton needed. People come from all around. Instead of going all the way into the city, they can just stop in Milton and get the same experience.

The food’s Italian. [Original chef Tony DeRienzo] also worked at Abby Park, where we went, and he’d do a great job. His grandmother taught him how to cook Italian food. He’s amazing.

What was your favorite hangout growing up in Dorchester? What did you eat?

Well, I lived right near the courthouse in Codman Square. There was Church’s fried chicken that I used to go to. Way back in the ‘70s, there was actually a Friendly’s up there — no, a Brigham’s. We used to go there. In Fields Corner, where I used to hang out when I was a young teenager, breakdancing, there was a place called Hi-Fi Pizza that was pretty much famous. Everybody went there.

Where do you eat now?

I’m pretty non-adventurous. I still go to Abby Park. My wife and I have friends who like to take us places. I recently went to a place called Mooo in the Seaport. And I went to a place in the old Ritz. I’m bad with names. What’s it called? Bear with me. Contessa. Great food.

When you’re out and about, do you get recognized or can you fly below the radar? Are you accosted by former 1990s teens?

When we first hit the scene, it was unbearable to go outside to go to a mall or whatever. Now it’s perfect, because people don’t freak out. They’re just excited. They’ll just be like, “Can I get a picture? Can I get a selfie?” It’s very calm. It’s kind of like the best of both worlds. You get recognized, but it’s not a pain in the butt. Just yesterday, we were at the Celtics game, then we went to a place after to watch the Patriots. They were full to capacity and one of the guys was like, “Hey, aren’t you Jordan? Can I take a selfie? I want to make my wife jealous!” I took a selfie with him, and he let us in the place.

What’s the best bar in Boston?

I’m not a drinker, but …

Or the best place to watch a game. Where were you yesterday?

I can Google it. Hold on one sec. Banners Kitchen & Tap. Lots of big screens.

What’s different about Boston now versus when you were growing up?

It feels just more populated. Put it this way: I was 2 years old when we moved to Dorchester. My parents bought a big Victorian house in Dorchester for about 30 grand with a 12 or 15 percent interest rate or something like that. It’s funny: We’re complaining about interest rates now. … That house recently sold for about $2 million.

Everyone in Dorchester has a certain pride being originally from Dorchester. And I like that. It’s almost like the dream is you grew up in Dorchester and then you moved to, you know, Braintree or Milton or whatever. There’s a lot of people in Milton and different places who are originally from Dorchester, which is cool. And then there’s a certain pride in growing up in Dorchester because it was just such a big neighborhood and rich in diversity.

I’ve got to ask: When you were touring, did you have special requests in your rider? Like: no green M&Ms?

A lot of people want to know this, because they have a certain image. It might capture people’s imagination, being able to ask for whatever you want for your dressing room: “I want candles, and I only can have like silk curtains.” You know, it was just crazy stuff. We were never like that. We have very few things on our rider. We have peanut butter and jelly, wheat bread, bananas, apples, chips like Cheetos or Doritos, Red Bull, water. We like to make protein shakes, so ingredients like almond milk and protein powder and stuff like that. So yeah, we’re pretty basic. Very basic.

Do you ever eat at Wahlburgers? People probably ask you that all the time, too.

I’ve eaten many times at Wahlburgers. After the show, if we’re close to a Wahlburgers, Donnie will be like: “You guys want Wahlburgers?” It definitely comes in handy.

What should people order at Novara? What are your favorite things to eat?

Since day one, I’ve always liked the chicken parm, meatballs. Honestly, there’s so many good things. I like the simple stuff. Chicken, broccoli and ziti, calamari, salmon piccata.

What else are you working on right now besides the restaurant?

This is kind of a year off for us. We’re doing a couple private events, and we’re doing a cruise, which we do pretty much every year, with the fans. It’s a four-day cruise. We go from Miami to the Bahamas and back. And my brother [Jonathan] has a show called “Farmhouse Fixer” on HGTV. So he’ll call me every once in a while and be like, “Do you want to be in an episode?” It’s been fun to watch how they make the show behind the scenes and watch them film. And, when it’s airing, it’s fun because my whole family gets together and watches the show.

A few quick questions: What’s your favorite ice cream place in Boston?

I’m bad with names, but I know the place. I’m thinking of it. Ice Creamsmith in Lower Mills.

Ben Affleck or Matt Damon: If you had to be friends with one of them, who would you choose?

They come in a pair. I’d have to hang out with both of them.

If you’re at Fenway Park, what are you eating?

Just a regular hot dog with mustard and ketchup.

Who’s your favorite musician right now?

You know who I’ve been listening to? It’s Fleetwood Mac. I just made a Fleetwood Mac playlist.

I wasn’t expecting that response. Who knew?

I wasn’t expecting it, either.

NKOTB News for December 19

At last night's show at the Bourbon Room, Joey said there will be an announcement sometime today. It sounded like it might be New Kids on the Block related! Maybe it's the behind-the-scenes video that Donnie mentioned will be coming soon?

The organizers behind "Joe Macs Birthday Project" were able to give their completed book to Joey at his show at the Bourbon Room last Sunday night. The book is a great look back at Joey's solo career. A digital version of the book as available to view here!

Rachael Lawrence Douglass on Instagram posted a couple photos of Joey at the IAMA Theatre Company fundraiser last week. Click here to view!

Marcello Ambriz (Faculty Management member and former tour photographer) shared this photo he took of Jordan on his Instagram stories.

There is a trend on Instagram and TikTok where people take their video clips of someone and put them in a boat. Donnie encouraged fans to make videos of him...

Donnie posted his reaction to all the boat videos:

Donnie flew home on Thursday night and he shared this photo of him on the plane...

He also shared this Instagram story originally shared by newkid.savvy. He said that a NKOTB cereal was almost a thing, but it didn't taste that great.

Donnie got a sneak peek at his Funko Pop!

And he and his dog Lady, were spotted at the Wahlburger's  in St. Charles on Saturday night. Here's a video clip from TX EMT Girl Amanda

Joey McIntyre on NJ PBS's Soundcheck Extra

PBS NJ Soundcheck host Jen Eckert talked with Joey as a part of the Debbie Gibson episode of "Soundcheck". In this video clip, she gave Joey a holiday quiz. He is asked what his favorite holiday movie is (his answer will surprise you), favorite classic holiday song, the best Christmas present growing up, artificial versus real Christmas trees and if they should have white or colorful lights, how early does he do his holiday shopping, what’s currently on his music playlist, and he is asked to describe Debbie Gibson in three words.

The full episode of Soundcheck will air on PBS NJ on December 20th!

In this second video Joey talks about his upcoming projects, and his sold-out performance at Carnegie Hall in January.

Jordan Knight talks to WBZ about Novara

I finally have a little bit of Jordan content to share!  It's super short, but Jordan was interviewed by WBZ's Jim Mackay about the recent fire at his restaurant, Novara.

MILTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Novara, the Milton restaurant co-owned by New Kids on the Block singer Jordan Knight, is set to reopen this weekend after a kitchen fire in November.

The fire started in the Novara kitchen on November 5, when a deep-fryer burst into flames as workers were getting things started for the day. Three local fire departments were called and quickly put out the blaze, but the restaurant was badly damaged by smoke and water. The cause of the fire hasn't been narrowed down.

Fast forward to December. Knight says the restaurant has been seriously renovated in the month since the fire, courtesy of the Lynnfield-based Restaurant Design Group.

During the restaurant's closure, Novara used its insurance policy to keep paying its entire staff, which Knight said was important for making regulars stick around.

"They get to know the staff and that's what makes people comfortable going to the restaurant, them knowing the staff and the staff knowing them...it's a little extra cost, but it's obviously worth it," Knight said.

NKOTB News for December 14
