Watch CBS 2's interview with Joey McIntyre

CBS 2 in New York interviewed Joey recently about the McCarthys and more. Here is the video clip:

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A “new kid” is making a big splash during CBS prime time.
New Kids on the Block star from the 80s, Joey McIntyre, is front and center in a new sitcom called “The McCarthy’s,” and sat down with CBS2’s Alex Denis to talk about it.

An opinionated Boston family will now take over Thursday nights on CBS where McIntyre plays one of the brothers.

“In the eye of the story is our brother Ronny, who happens to be gay, we don’t really care. It’s just that he wants to have his own life and we’re a very codependent family, very opinionated,” he told Denis.
The role isn’t much of a stretch for the Boston native who comes from a large family.

“As soon as I read the pilot, I knew what he was talking about. I knew that kind of Boston,” McIntyre said.

Beyond his new show, McIntyre has had a big year; he got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame because of his boy band days. That led Denis to ask his costars Tyler Ritter and Laurie Metcalf if he still performs the popular moves that defined a generation.

“At some point, he sneaks in a song and a dance,” Metcalf said.

McIntyre proved he’s still “got the right stuff.”

“Oh girl, I can dance,” he told Denis.

Despite his huge success, the 41-year-old gets the most joy from his children’s excitement.
“There are tons of McCarthy’s posters around, we live in LA so out of nowhere, we’re driving along listening to a song and he’s like ‘the McCarthys!’” he said.

McIntyre hopes the show will become a household name just like New Kids on the Block.
